WEMG was founded in 1990
, by T.J. Donnelly, the former general manager of KPLX-FM and KLIF-AM in Dallas, shortly after he sold his barter media placement service, Donnelly Media, Inc. (founded in 1981) to a subsidiary of ITEX Barter Systems, a publicly traded company.

Donnelly's background includes 25 years of advertising agency and media experience including time with Foote, Cone, and Belding Advertising plus senior managment positions with RKO Radio and Susquehana Broadcasting. He has supervised and worked on many accounts including Lorilard Tobacco, Johnson Wax, Transamerican, Purex, Sunkist, STP, Beneficial Finance, Orkin, Lipton Tea, Schick, the Southern California Visitors Council, National Car Rental, Thom McAnn, General Electric, Oster, and Sunbeam, just to name a few.

During it's nine years in business, Donnelly Media had successfully placed media for many Fortune 500 companies desiring to expand their business and profits via barter. Some of these clients included TWA, Rodeway Inns, Ramada Inns, The Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Six Flags Organization, Stouffers Hotels, Cap Cities/ABC, Outrigger Hotels of Hawaii and over 60 other accounts that believe barter expands their ability to advertise effectively, at a very low cost. Donnelly billed $12 million annually.

WEMG, through its hotel merchandise division also trades items to hotels. As an example, we provide paint, cleaning supplies, carpet cleaning, wallpaper, art, and other items and services to hotels on an all or part barter basis.

Our advertising goal is to provide our clients the best possible media buy on top of quality media that reaches their target audience. In turn, clients take advantage of our ability to barter with the media to obtain the most cost effective buy possible, utilizing as much trade as they desire.

In all instances we provide a written proposal showing the stations, formats, rates, locations, programming and exact schedules that we will provide. Clients can change any part of this proposal before the buy is placed. No media orders are made without prior client approval. We can even assist our clients and recommend top professionals to help with copy and production of commercials and artwork if needed.

When WEMG places the media buy, it absorbs all the associated costs such as long distance calls, trade negotiators salaries, secretarial, accounting and billing personnel support, mailing and postage charges. This alone is a substantial savings in money and personnel time for our clients.

As a general rule, all barter schedules run between 97% AND 105% AS ORDERED. Since the media wish to maintain a good relationship with WEMG, due to the valuable goods and services we provide to them, our media buys are treated exceptionally well and in many cases run the same or better than a 100% cash buy.

WEMG normally maintains about $13 million in trade credits with leading media throughout the country. As a WEMG client, you can utilize our connections with these top rated media.
